Canopy Stress Screening
Canopy water content, compared within a stand and between acquisitions.
Foliar water content, measured against a dry-matter baseline and compared across acquisitions.

Canopy water content across a conifer stand, read against a dry-matter baseline.
WHAT IT FINDS
What it detects.
| Material | Typical setting | What can confuse it |
|---|---|---|
| Foliar Equivalent Water Thickness (EWT) | Commercial timber plantations, watershed forests, and drought-affected stands | Understory grass drying and crown architectural shadowing |
METHOD
How it works.
Calibrated reflectance goes in, and every pixel is fitted against a public reference library.
Foliar water band depth
Foliar water absorption depth, taken against a dry-matter baseline so that leaf structure does not masquerade as moisture.
Stand-relative comparison
Moisture is compared within a stand and across dates, so every reading is judged against the ground it belongs to.
Structural correction
A canopy scattering model separates water content from canopy structure, so a dense crown does not read as a wet one.
Evaluability masking
Crown gaps where soil or rock dominates the pixel are marked, not averaged in.
SPECIFICATIONS
What you get, and what it runs on.
Conditions it needs
Method and checks are documented in Axine Applied Spectroscopy Paper #4 · Section 3.2.
Scope
Needs continuous canopy cover. It reads crown moisture, compared within a stand rather than in absolute terms.
RUN IT OVER YOUR GROUND
Run this layer over your own area.
Order processing over your area of interest, or a tasked capture where the archive has nothing usable. Imagery access is never charged for: a plan buys the models.
COMPLEMENTARY ANALYTICS
Related layers.

Canopy Chlorophyll & Red-Edge
Red-edge position, which follows canopy pigment. Refused on sensors that cannot resolve it.

Wildfire Burn Severity & Recovery
Burn severity between paired dates, with char and ash unmixed so a partly burned pixel reads as partly burned.

Selective Logging Audit
Sub-pixel unmixing for skid trails, canopy gap disturbance and harvest compliance over a concession.
