Damage mapping

After a flood, fire, storm or spill, the record shows what changed between the scenes either side of the event, which of that change sits on built-up land, and which of your parcels it touches.

For adjusters and underwriters working one area after one event.

01 · The order

What you send, and what comes back

You send

  • The area and the event date
  • The event type: flood, fire, storm or other
  • Your parcels or assets, if you want them listed

You receive

  • A changed-ground layer, read with the flood or burnt area method when the event is one of those
  • A layer of built-up damage candidates: places to send someone
  • A screen over water for turbidity and surface sheen
  • A table of the parcels or assets the change touches
  • Before and after images and the scene list in the PDF

02 · How it is read

  1. 01

Floods and fires are read with the same methods as the flood extent and burnt area products. Storms are read as windthrow, anything else as changed ground.

  2. 02

Built-up land comes from ESA WorldCover, so the candidates layer shows change on buildings and roads rather than on fields.
